Sana'a/Washington D.C., June 30, 2007-IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, has signed an agreement with Arabian Yemen Cement Company Limited that will help generate employment in one of the Republic of Yemen's least developed regions. IFC will provide a $70 million loan for its own account and mobilize an additional $55 million from participant banks to build the first cement plant in eastern Yemen.

which held in Nuremberg-Federal Republic of Germany during the period 06-09 June 2007 under title of your stepping stone to new markets.
The Yemeni delegation was headed by H.E. Mr. Khaled M. Bahah-Minister of Oil & Minerals. GSMRB participated with a big technical delegation headed by Dr. Ismail N. Al-Ganad-Chairman of the Board.
Nuremberg now moves into the centre of the great European demand power. Stone+tec is therefore more than ever a value & effective business platform for all varieties of natural stone, maintenance, restoration, gravestones & accessories, & a global marketplace for all natural stone technologies. Nuremberg impressively emphasized its outstanding position at the last Stone+tec in 2005 with some 1,100 exhibitors & over 40,000 trade visitor from all over the world. Therefore, that Yemen participation in such events will gain good results to the investment in this sector in Yemen.
The
Board implemented several activities through 2005
represented by:
• The Board transferred to it's permanent building
at Zubery Street.
• Participating in the Mineral Investment Horizons
and Opportunities in the Arab Countries Symposium,
Jeddah-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during 5-7 March 2005.
The Board participated in this symposium by
four papers these papers are:
• Reality of the discovery and investment in
the mining sector in Yemen.
• Investment opportunities available in the
mineral sector in Yemen.
• Factors affecting the attraction of the mining
investments and future of the mining sector development.
• Legislation and laws regulating the exploration
and utilization of the mineral resources in Yemen.
• Organized the ninth expanded technical meeting
at the end of April 2005.
• Holding a workshop about ornament and building
stones co-ordinating between Board and German side
represented by the mining museum and practical science
university in (Bochum ) Germany.
• Holding a workshop about the reduction of
poverty in September 2005 with coordination of ministry
of oil and minerals and ministry of international
plannings cooperation .
• Holding a workshop in cooperation of world
bank (IFC) to discuss the importance of the mineral
sector in Yemen.
• His Excellency the vice president of the republic
visited the Board on 7 December 2005 to know the activities
that are implemented by the Board and directed the
government to support the mineral sector in Yemen.
• Sinying with primery letters the agreement
between the Bored & Zinc ox company to exploite
the mine in Jabali area for Zinc leads silver
The expected works through 2006:
• Participating in the international conference
of the mineral investment in South Africa which will
be held in captwon at the beginning of February 2006.
The interested companies in the mineral sector will
attend this conference.
• Participating in the negotiations with the
Chinese side about the project of railway between
Al Goff, Marib and Shabwah to transfer the ore minerals
from these governorates to the a of Arabian Sea.
• Participating in the ninth Arabic conference
of the Mineral Resources which will be held in Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia. The Board will participate by many
papers in additional to its participation in preparation
committee of the conference, because the eighth conference
was held in Yemen in 2003.
• Participating in the sixth international conference
of geology of Middle East which will hold in"
Al Ayen" -United Arab Emirates through 20-23
march 2006. This conference is considered the largest
geologic demonstration in the region since 1979 and
the Board will participate by two papers about the
geology of Yemen and the Gold belt in the north area.
• Participating in the International Gulf Forum
of Earthquake which will be held in Masqat city capital
of sultanate of Oman through 19-22 February 2006
